MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, LABUHANHAJI – The Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Saad Ibrahim delivered a powerful message about the life and legacy of Prophet Muhammad. He highlighted the importance of learning from the Prophet’s qualities of resilience, leadership, and vision.
Quoting the Qur’an surah Al-Ahzab verse 21 laqad kāna lakum fī rasūlillāhi uswatun ḥasanah (There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allāh an excellent pattern), Saad mentioned that Prophet Muhammad is the last Messenger of Allah.
“Prophet Muhammad was tested by Allah with extraordinary trials. He lost his father before birth, his mother at the age of six, and his grandfather at eight. Yet, he did not become weak; instead, he became a strong individual,” said Saad at the Muhammadiyah anniversary celebration and orphan care conducted by the Muhammadiyah branch of Kauman, Labuhanhaji, South Aceh, on Sunday, November 24.
Saad also invited the audience to contemplate the wisdom behind Allah’s decree for the Prophet’s life.
“Let us ponder why Allah did not extend the lives of Abdullah, Aminah, or Abdul Muthalib. It was because Allah wanted to show that even without parents, a person could stand tall and become a great leader,” added Saad.
Saad encouraged Muhammadiyah members to draw inspiration from the Prophet’s resilience.
“When we join Muhammadiyah, we associate our movement with the Prophet. Muhammadiyah always practices these values, such as by establishing schools and supporting orphans,” he stated.
Besides, Saad touched upon the Prophet’s early struggles in Mecca, particularly when he faced opposition from the Quraysh tribe. Saad recounted the story of the Prophet’s invitation to the Quraysh to declare “La ilaha illallah” (There is no god worthy of worship except Allah). Despite their rejection, the Prophet remained steadfast in his mission.
Furthermore, Saad highlighted the Prophet’s visionary thinking, which included the spread of Islam throughout the world.
“The Prophet had a grand vision to spread Islam to great empires like Persia and Rome. This vision was realized as Islamic rule lasted for over 1300 years until the fall of the Ottoman Empire in 1924,” he explained.
In conclusion, Saad called on all Muhammadiyah members to remain optimistic and follow the example of the Prophet Muhammad. “Never lose hope, because we have Allah, who is All-Powerful and All-Knowing,” he said.
