MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, KARO – The Muhammadiyah Department of Community Da’wa (LDK) in collaboration with the Muhammadiyah Department of Charity Management (Lazismu) launched the Mualaf Learning Center (MLC) in Karo, North Sumatra.
The launch, marked by the inauguration of the Mualaf Development Center (PUSBINMU) of Karo and a gathering with Muslim converts (mualaf), signifies a significant step in Muhammadiyah efforts to support and empower recent converts to Islam.
The MLC program aims to provide comprehensive guidance and empowerment to Muslim converts. Through education, training, and mentorship, the program seeks to help Muslim converts develop a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings and contribute positively to their communities.
This initiative aligns with Muhammadiyah commitment to supporting the empowerment of Muslim converts, particularly in remote and underserved areas. Together with Lazismu, Muhammadiyah has allocated Rp1.2 billion to fund various support programs in these regions, including Karo and Subulussalam-Aceh.
The MLC was first launched nationally on November 12-13, 2024, in Jakarta under the theme “Reflection and Synergy for Enhanced Action.”
The establishment of the MLC in Karo represents a strategic step in institutionalizing support for Muslim converts across various regions.
The head of the LDK expressed appreciation for the program, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the faith of Muslim converts who are often vulnerable.
“The goal of this program is to build commitment and strive to strengthen the faith and piety of our brothers and sisters who have recently embraced Islam,” he stated.
In addition to religious education, the LDK also provided food assistance to the attending Muslim converts as a token of support and care.
