MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Muhammadiyah has called on Muslims and all people to donate to aid Palestinians affected by the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Israel’s relentless bombardment of Gaza has tragically claimed the lives of 6,546 civilians, including 2,704 children, while the West Bank has witnessed 103 casualties.
The director of the Muhammadiyah Institute for Zakat, Infaq, and Alms Management (Lazismu) mentioned that Muhammadiyah would focus its initial aid efforts on providing food and medicine to Palestinians in Gaza. This movement has already begun distributing aid through local partners.
“We are working closely with relevant parties to ensure that aid is delivered to those in need,” said Edi Suryanto.
Muhammadiyah and Lazismu have responded to the unfolding humanitarian crisis by providing aid for Palestinians. For instance, this movement has offered scholarships to Palestinian students, built schools for Palestinian refugees in Beirut, Lebanon, and supported health and economic development programs.
A local partner representative who received aid from Lazismu thanked Muhammadiyah for its support.
“Your assistance will help to ease the burden of those who are suffering in Gaza,” the representative said.
As of October 25, Lazismu had collected over 1,775,839,218 rupiah for Palestinians. It has received a robust response from the public in Lampung, where 561,370,500 million rupiah has been donated.
“We are grateful to the donors who have entrusted their infaq and alms to Lazismu,” said Seraden Nihan, Head of Lazismu of Lampung.
