MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, MALAYSIA – The Education and Culture Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the Muhammadiyah Special Branch (PCIM) of Malaysia welcomed 122 Indonesian students performing community service in Malaysia.
Of 122 students, 96 were from 25 Muhammadiyah-‘Aisyiyah universities, while the other 24 students performing community service in Malaysia.
The students would do community service at Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur (SKIL/Indonesian School of Kuala Lumpur) and in other institutions.
“The students may instill the sense of nationalism to the Indonesian people in Malaysia through national songs and promote the beauty of Indonesia’s nature,” said Muhammad Firdaus from the Education and Culture Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur on Friday (August 4).
Muhammad Firdaus mentioned that many Indonesian children, whose parents are Indonesian migrant workers, cannot get access to education. Many of their parents are busy working.
“The community service assists the children to access education through the SIKL,” said Muhammad Firdaus.
Meanwhile, the Research and Community Service of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Beni Suhendra Winarso mentioned that the students would perform community service in Semenanjung Malaysia for 26 days.
This community service is a follow up program initiated by the Chair of LPTK PTMA, Prof. Harun Joko Prayitno from Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS).
