MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA — Chair of Muhammadiyah Dadang Kahmad commended the Fachrodin Award 2023 as a noteworthy initiative by the Muhammadiyah Council for Publication and Information (MPI). Underlining the event’s importance, Dadang mentioned the critical role played by the MPI in shaping the organization’s trajectory during its second century.
Muhammadiyah gained significant achievements in its first century, particularly through the establishment of educational and healthcare institutions. In its second century, the era of digital literacy presents unique challenges.
“This century demands digital literacy, posing a new challenge that MPI must tackle by implementing robust digital literacy programs,” said Dadang in the award ceremony in Jakarta on Tuesday (November 28).
Muhammadiyah members are encouraged to enhance their digital literacy skills, recognizing the indispensable role of the internet in daily life. Fachrodin Award 2023 is positioned as a catalyst to raise awareness and proficiency in digital literacy within the Muhammadiyah members.
In further elaboration, Dadang Kahmad outlined several key benefits arising from Fachrodin Award 2023. First, he positioned the event as a tribute to Fachrodin’s legacy—a prominent Muhammadiyah figure and National Hero known for his dedication to journalistic literacy.
“This stands as a positive continuation of Fachrodin’s aspirations as a national journalistic figure from Muhammadiyah,” said Dadang
Second, Fachrodin Award 2023 is recognized as a valuable platform for gaining insights into activities across Muhammadiyah regions. Positioned as an award that sheds light on local issues, the event provides a tangible overview of Muhammadiyah contributions and role throughout the nation.
“This event offers a window into local activities, figures, and other Muhammadiyah initiatives spanning the corners of the country,” Dadang added.
Third, Fachrodin Award 2023 may motivate Muhammadiyah people to write and read. With Indonesia grappling with low levels of reading interest, Dadang Kahmad saw the event as a potential spark to ignite greater enthusiasm for reading and writing.
“Only 0.01% of Indonesians are willing to read. This event serves as a catalyst to boost reading and writing interests. Hence, the continuous improvement of this initiative is essential,” said Dadang.
Beyond being an awards ceremony, Fachrodin Award 2023 emerges as a significant moment to fortify digital literacy, perpetuate journalistic spirit, and consolidate Muhammadiyah influence amid the second-century dynamics characterized by technological advancements.
The Fachrodin Award 2023 ceremony was also attended by key figures such as the General Secretary of Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu’ti, Chairman of Muhammadiyah Saad Ibrahim, Chairman of the MPI Muchlas, Secretary of Lazismu Gunawan Hidayat, and MPI representatives across Indonesia.
Furthermore, the Fachrodin Award 2023 winners, including Nur Annisa Immaduddin (1st place), Ganjar Sri Husodo (2nd place), and Efi Nurul Utama (3rd place) in the Writing Category, and Andy Prasetya (1st place), Adhani Rahmanda (2nd place), and the SD Muhammadiyah PK Kottabarat team (3rd place) in the video content category, were also present to receive the awards.
