MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Ahmad Dahlan was more than just a social reformer. He was a deeply spiritual man whose faith fueled his tireless efforts to improve the lives of others.
Chairman of Muhammadiyah Busyro Muqoddas painted a picture of Dahlan as a man of unwavering devotion, someone who not only fulfilled the obligatory prayers but also dedicated significant time to optional acts of worship, such as the night prayer, or Tahajjud.
Ahmad Dahlan was not merely a pious man; he was also a seeker of knowledge. He pursued his studies diligently, both locally and as far as Mecca.
“This intellectual pursuit, combined with his deep faith, created a potent force for positive change,” said Busyro Muqoddas in the preaching at Masjid Gedhe Kampung Kauman, Yogyakarta.
Ahmad Dahlan’s life was a harmonious blend of prayer, study, and action. He transformed his spiritual insights into tangible benefits for the community, especially for those who were most vulnerable. This legacy lives on in Muhammadiyah extensive network of schools, hospitals, and social welfare programs.
Muqoddas challenged the congregation to draw inspiration from Dahlan’s example. By nurturing a strong connection with God and actively engaging in community service, Muhammadiyah members can overcome any obstacle. Dahlan’s life serves as a powerful reminder that faith and action are inseparable components of a meaningful life.
Busyro Muqoddas emphasized that Ahmad Dahlan’s legacy became an enduring source of inspiration for Muhammadiyah members.
“Turning Ahmad Dahlan to be a role model may enable us to overcome any challenge. When we have a strong connection to God and our fellow human beings, we can face the future with courage and hope,” said Busyro Muqoddas.
