MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – ‘Aisyiyah conducted the first Tanwir National Meeting under the theme “The Dynamics of Progressive Women for a Just Indonesia.” The event officially opened on Wednesday, July 15, at Tavia Heritage Hotel, Central Jakarta, focusing on empowering women and promoting equality in Indonesia.
Jakarta Regional Secretary Marullah Matali expressed his appreciation and congratulations for the event. Delivering the remark of Acting Jakarta Governor, Marullah emphasized the significant contributions of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah to the nation’s development, particularly in Jakarta.
“This Tanwir National Meeting plays a vital and strategic role. Women’s and religious organizations, both in Jakarta and nationwide, have been pivotal in fostering progress. We are thrilled about the organization of Tanwir 1 ‘Aisyiyah and hope it brings positive impacts for Jakarta and, Insya Allah, for the rest of Indonesia,” said Marullah.
He highlighted that since its establishment in 1917, ‘Aisyiyah has played a major role in Islamic outreach and empowering women. One of its core contributions has been in education. From the beginning, ‘Aisyiyah provided scholarships for underprivileged students, particularly women, who faced challenges like economic barriers to education.
“‘Aisyiyah has been playing crucial roles in improving access to education for women. Over the years, it has grown into a large organization that has established numerous educational institutions and universities across Indonesia,” Marullah explained.
