MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, MOROCCO—Morocco was jolted by a formidable earthquake on Friday (September 8), significantly devastating the area. The condition called for help for relief and recovery.
The earthquake’s epicenter was in the High Atlas Mountains. The ongoing risk of landslides and the vast distances made rescue and relief operations highly challenging, with emergency services struggling to reach those in need.
Medi1 TV, the first news team to arrive, overcame challenging mountainous terrain to reach the affected region, allowing Moroccan news to report on the situation.
In a news report on Wednesday (September 13), local time, broadcasted by Medi1 TV, reporter Mohamad Al Shantouf expressed heartfelt thanks to Muhammadiyah for its aid, such as food, beverages, and medicine, to the affected Moroccan people.
In an interview, a representative of the Muhammadiyah Special Branch (PCIM) of Morocco Risyan Nurhakim said that he encountered the rugged mountain terrain for the first time during this mission. Nonetheless, their unwavering determination to help those in need drove him forward, overcoming every obstacle.
“Alhamdulillah, my team and I safely arrived and are truly pleased to be here to help. We hope that our presence can comfort everyone affected, and the aid we provide is the urgently needed one,” said Risyan.
Risyan mentioned that PCIM Morocco has established partnerships with several Moroccan institutions, including local authorities, to assist those dealing with the earthquake’s aftermath. He stressed the strong connection between the Moroccan people and Indonesia: they are brothers and sisters alike.
“Insya Allah, we’ll keep communicating and adjusting our actions as needed, particularly in the aftermath of the earthquake. It’s important to convey our empathy for what the Moroccan people are experiencing,” said Risyan.
The people in the affected Moroccan region sincerely appreciated Muhammadiyah’s assistance. The presence of Media1TV, along with Muhammadiyah’s aid, brought a glimmer of hope amidst their ongoing hardships.
