MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir expressed his support for the growing efforts to develop facilities for Muslim communities and strengthen charitable institutions like the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS). He emphasized the importance of empowering such institutions to serve the public more effectively.
“When there are institutions closely tied to the state and supported by public initiatives, such as BAZNAS, they deserve our full support. They play a noble and strategic role in community empowerment,” said Haedar in the visit of BAZNAS to the Muhammadiyah headquarters, Jakarta on Saturday, July 26.
Haedar highlighted the need for collaboration to expand outreach and support for underdeveloped areas, especially outside Java. While Muhammadiyah’s initiatives have reached many parts of Java, he acknowledged that regions beyond still face significant challenges.
“This shows we have a major responsibility to support communities outside Java,” said Haedar.
Haedar stressed that partnerships are essential to achieving real progress. By working together and building collective action, Haedar believes the Muslim community can strengthen infrastructure and public services.
“This kind of cooperation can bring real change,” he added.
Haedar also encouraged Muhammadiyah to continue taking the lead in local efforts while urging government institutions to ensure justice and equity in their policies.
“Let’s begin by strengthening Muhammadiyah internally, while continuing to encourage the state to act more fairly,” said Haedar.
