MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – For Muslims, entering paradise is ultimately through Allah’s mercy. However, this can be achieved by following His commandments, strengthening faith, and using wealth for good.
Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Anwar Abbas explained that seeking paradise does not mean withdrawing from worldly affairs. Instead, Muslims should use the resources given by Allah to live a fulfilling life while staying devoted to their faith.
“A true believer prays diligently, but that doesn’t mean neglecting worldly responsibilities. Worship comes first, but financial stability is also important to support religious duties,” said Anwar Abbas in the Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration at At-Tanwir Mosque, the Muhammadiyah headquarters, Jakarta, on Tuesday, March 18.
He clarified that living a zuhud (modest) life does not mean rejecting wealth. He cited Abdurrahman bin Auf, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad, who was known for his piety yet was also a successful businessman.
This perspective aligns with Muhammadiyah belief that righteousness does not require hardship. Instead, wealth, when earned ethically and used wisely, can be a powerful tool for serving Allah and helping others.
Anwar Abbas also reminded Muslims that one of the keys to paradise is kindness and generosity. Doing good for others, he said, is not just a moral obligation but a direct command from Allah.
