MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, BANDUNG — The 7th Olympiade Ahmad Dahlan (Olympicad) kicked off in Bandung on March 6th, 2024, bringing together thousands of students from across Indonesia. Organized by the Muhammadiyah Council for Elementary, Secondary, and Non-formal Education, the event aims to foster creativity, cultivate achievement, and propel progressive education forward in pursuit of Indonesia’s Golden Era by 2045.
Olympicad offered a diverse range of competitions spread across various venues in Bandung. From Universitas Muhammadiyah Bandung and Universitas Aisyiyah Bandung to Aisyiyah Boarding School Ballendah and Muhammadiyah Antapani Complex, the energy of competition buzzed throughout the city.
Catering to a wide range of educational levels and fields, the Olympiad offered unique challenges for every participant. Teachers and principals battled it out in practical implementation of inclusive education, best school management practices, and innovative teaching methods. Senior high school students put their skills to the test in e-sports, astronomy, calligraphy, acoustic music, and more. Junior high schoolers showcased their talents in robotics, school magazine creation, calligraphy, and poetry musicalization, while elementary school students competed in mathematics, science, Quran recitation, and various other subjects.
Beyond simply testing knowledge, Olympicad aimed to foster a spirit of problem-solving, collaboration, and networking among participants within the educational field. Each competition was designed to significantly contribute to the development of individual talents and interests. The event also served as a platform to enhance the skills and self-confidence of both students and teachers, promoting healthy sportsmanship and a love for learning. Ultimately, Olympicad aspired to leave a lasting positive impact by nurturing the abilities, skills, and creativity of the next generation of Indonesian leaders.
The event kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony held at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium on Wednesday, March 6th. Participants, their supervisors, and distinguished guests filled the stadium with electrifying enthusiasm. The ceremony was further enlivened by a special performance from Hanin Dhiya, a rising star in the Indonesian music scene.
Officially inaugurated by Abdul Mu’ti, the General Secretary of Muhammadiyah, the Olympiad promised to be a stimulating and enriching experience for all participants. It provided them with a platform to showcase their talents, learn from one another, and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of education in Indonesia.
