MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, SRAGEN–President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir mentioned that Indonesia should have no madzhab because it endangers the diversity of this nation.
According to Haedar, unity underlies the establishment of this nation. In the midst of diverse views, the people should respect each other. They may not mislead each other and think that their group is better than others.
“Indeed, groups believing in a certain madzab and having the greatest members may not greedy and eager to govern the whole nation. It’s not true from the ukuwah and state rule perspective,” said Haedar at the Tabligh Akbar and the inauguration of the Plupuh Islamic Center.
Haedar, a professor of sociology, highlighted that none of groups or madzabs can rule Indonesia for their group’s interests. Indonesia belongs to all of its citizens, and this nation is united and helps each other.
“Don’t talk about mutual cooperation, unity, Pancasila, and diversity if ones feel exclusive, arbitrary, and powerful and don’t have great attitudes,” said Haedar.
He emphasized that Muhammadiyah people may not have the attitudes and should behave in accordance with Muhammadiyah’s guidance. Muhammadiyah people can mingle with everyone, do good deeds, and don’t control other people. If so, their life will be blessed and get reward from Allah.
Being active in Muhammadiyah should be intended because of Allah and become part of worship and knowledge improvement, so Muhammadiyah programs broadly benefit communities.
