MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The Muhammadiyah Farmer Association (JATAM), a program under the Muhammadiyah Council for Community Empowerment (MPM), has achieved a significant milestone. Their product, “TelurMOE,” has successfully obtained prestigious certification from the global Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC).
The Chairperson of the MPM M. Nurul Yamin expressed his satisfaction with this achievement. Yamin emphasized that the HFAC certification is a result of consistent efforts in developing egg production, prioritizing animal welfare standards, and enhancing the skills of people with disabilities associated with JATAM.
“This egg empowerment program is inspired by the “Happy Egg” initiative in Switzerland in which eggs are categorized based on animal welfare and happiness standards. The happier the hen, the higher the value of the eggs,” said Yamin on Monday, September 30.
He added that TelurMOE is directly managed by people with disabilities who are members of JATAM, with a focus on improving animal welfare, product quality, and economic growth.
Furthermore, Yamin explained that the program has a positive impact not only on the broader community but also on improving the skills and economy of the involved disabled individuals.
“We continue to provide supervision so that TelurMOE can continue to grow and have a positive impact on society and become a means for JATAM’s disabled members to improve their skills and increase their income,” added Yamin.
The HFAC certification for TelurMOE is international recognition of the implementation of high standards of animal welfare. The HFAC is an organization that certifies producers who meet standards of animal care, production, and welfare.
With this certification, TelurMOE has proven that their product is of high quality. According to Yamin, the eggs produced are good for health since they contain high nutrients.
“TelurMOE is rich in omega 3, 6, 9, low in cholesterol, high in protein and vitamin D, and many more,” said Yamin.
Yamin hoped that the HFAC certification will boost the self-confidence of JATAM’s disabled members in developing their skills and increasing their income. It is also hoped that this will continue to be sustainable so that the benefits will be perceived by wider communities.
