Muhammadiyah Chairperson of International Relations and Cooperation Syafiq Mughni highlighted Muhammadiyah commitment to promoting unity among Muslims and standing against injustice.
“For Muhammadiyah, Muslims should stand together against all forms of oppression. We do not view differences in nature or thinking as a problem as long as there is a shared spirit of solidarity and empathy,” said Syafiq in the visit of the Iranian Embassy’s representatives to the Muhammadiyah headquarters, Jakarta, on Thursday, June 19.
According to Syafiq, Muhammadiyah agrees with Iran on condemning Israeli occupation and reaffirms its support for the Palestinian cause. He noted that Muhammadiyah continues to raise the issue of Palestine-Israel both within Indonesia and on international platforms.
Besides, Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Boroujerdi spoke about the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel. He explained that Iran’s recent actions were responses to attacks initiated by the Zionist regime.
From the first night of the assault, Iran took immediate defensive action. Wars may begin with a single bullet, but resolving them is far more complex.
“The conflict was initiated by Zionist forces and has resulted in continued assaults on Iranian military and civilian leaders. On the first day alone, over 20 people, including high-ranking officials, scientists, women, and children, were killed,” explained Boroujerdi.
Boroujerdi stressed that Iran does not seek conflict but is prepared to defend itself. He also warned against falling for divisive narratives spread by Israeli media campaigns.
“The Zionist regime tries to justify its aggression through misleading narratives. They say they are attacking Hamas, not Palestine; Syria, not the government; Iranian leaders, not the nation. These are tactics meant to divide us,” said Boroujerdi.
