Prof. Dr. H. Haedar Nashir, M.Si., has served as President of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah since 2015. He was born in Bandung on February 25, 1958. He is also widely recognized as an academic and Professor of Sociology.
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s Degree, Academy of Community Development (APMD), Yogyakarta (1991).
- Master’s Degree in Sociology, Gadjah Mada University (UGM) (1998), with a thesis entitled Political Behavior of Muhammadiyah Elites in Pekajangan.
- Doctoral Program in Sociology, Gadjah Mada University (UGM) (2007), with a dissertation entitled Sharia Islam: The Reproduction of Ideological Salafism in Indonesia.
- He was inaugurated as Professor of Sociology on December 12, 2019, at Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta, delivering an inaugural address entitled Indonesian Moderation and Indonesian-ness: A Sociological Perspective.
