Internationalization Becomes PTMA’s Priority Program, Muhammadiyah Aims for 5,000 Doctorates and 100,000 Publications in 5 Years
MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, BANTUL – Muhammadiyah internationalization has commenced since the 47th Muktamar (Congress) of Muhammadiyah in Makassar in 2015 and expanded in the 48th Muktamar in Surakarta in 2022.
One of the internationalization programs focuses on education, broadening international partnerships of Muhammadiyah-Aisyiyah higher education institutions. It involves all elements of the higher education institutions.
Some programs have been undertaken such as a student exchange program between Kyungdong Univesity Global, South Korea and Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur.
Besides, the other internationalization program is that Muhammadiyah aspires to have 5,000 teaching staff holding a doctorate and 100,000 publications in five years.
To achieve the goal, the Muhammadiyah Council for Education, Research, and Development and Muhammadiyah-Aisyiyah Higher Education (PTMA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and conducted the International Academic Partnership Symposium 2023 with Kyungdong University Global on Thursday (08/06) at Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD).
The Chairman of Muhammadiyah Irwan Akib mentioned that the MoU signing and the symposium allow the Muhammadiyah-‘Aisyiyah higher education institutions to perform international collaboration and research.
