MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, BALI—One of the fundamental values in Islam is good morals, which are essential for Islamic da’wa. According to the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Syafiq Mughni, the noble character can give color to civilization to increase peace and benefit.
“Morals can give meaning to civilization, become a power for peace and justice, and be a real action to confront inevitable changes,” said Syafiq at the second ASEAN Islamic Conference in Bali on Thursday (22/12).
Indeed, today’s challenges are dealing with digitalization, post-truth culture, social distrust, polarization, and hate speech that wreck humanitarian values and unity. A noble character is a must to achieve a peaceful life which requires roles of all elements. Cooperation is essential to empower one another.
The principles of empowerment include equality, openness, fairness, and mutual trust. The goal is to achieve a common good,” said Syafiq Mughni.
“The empowerment will strengthen people’s digital literacy, mainstream wasathiyyah (moderation of Islam), become a blessing for all the world, build ukhuwah Islamiyah, and create a culture of peace and justice,” Mughni said.
For information, the General Secretary of Muhammadiyah, Prof. Abdul Mu’ti and Syafiq Mughni were the speakers at the ASEAN Islamic conference to represent Indonesian Islamic organizations. Meanwhile, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) was represented by the President of NU K.H. Yahya Staquf and the chairman of Muslimat.
