MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono highlighted Muhammadiyah potential to contribute significantly to the national economy. With its extensive network, large membership, and substantial assets, he believed that Muhammadiyah could play a vital role, particularly in the maritime and fisheries sector.
“The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries is highly optimistic that collaboration with Muhammadiyah will be crucial to advance Indonesia’s maritime and fisheries sector,” stated Trenggono at the opening of the Ramadan preaching conducted at Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) on Thursday, March 6.
Trenggono encouraged Muhammadiyah scholars and intellectuals to lead efforts in implementing the blue economy. This initiative aims to sustain marine resources while improving the livelihoods of coastal communities.
Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, highlighted how the government’s programs reflect the principles of Al-Ma’un theology, a concept deeply rooted in Muhammadiyah teachings.
“The government is essentially practicing Al-Ma’un theology. President Prabowo’s current programs strongly align with this principle, particularly in ensuring proper nutrition for underprivileged children,” said Zulkifli.
In addition, the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Nusron Wahid, sought prayers and support from Muhammadiyah members. He hoped that national leaders would fulfill their duties with integrity, uphold the country’s dignity, and improve the well-being of the people, ensuring that their efforts receive the blessings of Allah.
