MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, MALAYSIA – Students of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (Unisa) Yogyakarta performing a community service program organized a free health check-up for the Muhammadiyah diaspora in Malaysia.
It took place at the Muhammadiyah-Aisyiyah Special Sub-Branch (PRIM-PRIA) of Kepong after tarawih prayers. With the theme “Prevention is Better than Cure,” the program aimed to raise awareness about the importance of regular health check-ups.
The health services included checking vital signs, blood sugar levels, hemoglobin, cholesterol, and uric acid levels.
The event was well received by the Kepong community, with many residents arriving before maghrib to join the communal iftar before undergoing health screenings.
In addition to medical check-ups, the students provided health education on balanced nutrition, physical activity, and healthy habits to prevent illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol. Participants also had the opportunity to consult directly with the student volunteers about their health conditions.
Siti Sitatun, Chairperson of PRIA Kepong, expressed her appreciation for the students’ efforts in supporting the Muhammadiyah people.
“Thank you, Unisa, for being here at the PRIM-PRIA Kepong Secretariat. Your dedication and enthusiasm mean a lot to us,” said Siti Sitatun.
This initiative not only encouraged the local community to prioritize their health but also gave students hands-on experience in providing healthcare services. The program demonstrated how education, healthcare, and community service can come together to make a meaningful impact.
