MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Head of the Health Crisis Center of the Ministry of Health Sumarjaya stated that the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) is being officially registered with the World Health Organization (WHO) for certification in disaster emergency response.
“MDMC is currently being registered for certification as an Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) with WHO,” said Sumarjaya in the technical capacity-building training for health disaster personnel of Muhammadiyah–‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (PTMA) and Muhammadiyah–‘Aisyiyah Hospitals (RSMA) at New Saphire Hotel, Yogyakarta on Thursday, January 10.
He emphasized Muhammadiyah significant role in disaster management, particularly in providing healthcare resources during emergencies. MDMC is already recognized as a Type-2 EMT, a status that highlights its capability to manage medical responses in disaster situations.
“We are working on the certification process with support from Asthma Australia for Type-2 EMT mentoring. MDMC is already included as a member in this category. This is why I make it a priority to attend MDMC events. They consistently provide valuable contributions and strong collaboration,” he noted.
The partnership between the Ministry of Health and MDMC was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Bandung. This agreement reflects a joint commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and response both nationally and globally.
