MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Muhammadiyah, as one of the largest Islamic organizations in the world, continues to expand its reach and influence. Founded in 1912 by Ahmad Dahlan, the movement has provided services in education, healthcare, social welfare, and economy.
With an impressive network of 163 universities, thousands of educational institutions, and 126 hospitals, Muhammadiyah exists domestically and internationally. The movement has extended its reach to over 30 countries, establishing a university in Malaysia and a school in Australia.
According to Muhammad Sayuti, the Secretary of Muhammadiyah, these remarkable achievements are the result of the tireless efforts and sacrifices of Muhammadiyah members at all levels, from the central board to the grassroots.
“Behind these numbers is a shared value that has allowed the organization to grow so significantly,” said Sayuti.
Sayuti emphasized that Muhammadiyah strength lies in its ability to maintain a healthy organization. Unlike many other organizations that may appear large on the outside but are weak internally, Muhammadiyah has managed to sustain its growth while preserving its core values.
One of Muhammadiyah’s most significant accomplishments is the establishment of the first Indonesian school in Australia, the Muhammadiyah Australia College (MAC). This achievement demonstrates Muhammadiyah ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and to provide quality education to students abroad.
“Since Indonesia gained independence, Muhammadiyah has been the only organization capable of establishing, developing, and maintaining a school that is trusted by the Australian community,” noted Sayuti.
The establishment of MAC is a source of great pride for Muhammadiyah and Indonesia. It demonstrates the organization’s commitment to promoting intercultural understanding and providing educational opportunities for people of all backgrounds.
In addition, Muhammadiyah has established educational institutions in several other countries, including Malaysia, Egypt, and Lebanon. These institutions offer a wide range of programs, from early childhood education to higher education. Muhammadiyah global reach and its commitment to education and social welfare have made it a respected and influential organization on the international stage.
