MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Muhammadiyah organization has been recognized as Indonesia’s second-largest Islamic organization based on quantity or number of members. However, many experts currently disagree that quantity is no longer relevant to determine the status of ‘the largest organization.’ It is supposed to be quality.
President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir said several social experts mentioned new categories to gauge an organization’s hugeness.
“Muhammadiyah is not as great as other organizations at the number of members, but this movement has profound development. Indeed, Muhammadiyah is well-known as the greatest modern and reformist Islamic organization in Indonesia and the world. For instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Muhammadiyah played huge roles. Thus, many experts rearranged some aspects to conclude whether or not an organization is big. They began to view the aspect of quality,” said Haedar at the commemoration of the 31st anniversary of the Jakarta Islamic Hospital of Sukapura on Wednesday (4/5).
Haedar expected that Muhammadiyah could enhance its service systems to portray its characteristics as a modern organization.
Muhammadiyah health services, according to Haedar, could elevate through a system started since 1923 and public health.
“The system should become a strength and a distinctive aspect for this hospital,” said Haedar.
Besides, Muhammadiyah members should be grateful for the 31-year establishment of this hospital.
“We have to reinforce our modern identity, particularly in this hospital, and attempt to develop this hospital. Muhammadiyah, through this hospital, also tries to create a civilization which is rahmatan lil alamin and benefits others,” said Haedar.
