MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Muhammadiyah continues to show its strong commitment to global humanitarian efforts, particularly in supporting peace and justice for the people of Palestine.
Chair of the Muhammadiyah Department of International Relations and Cooperation Imam Addaruqutni said the organization is committed to standing with Palestinians in their struggle and contributing to global peace.
Imam explained that the conflict in Gaza is not just a local or regional issue but a major factor in achieving peace worldwide.
“The key to global peace lies in Palestine. If Palestine and Israel can find peace, Insya Allah, it will lead to a more peaceful world,” said Imam on Saturday, April 26.
Imam also expressed concern about the worsening situation in Gaza, which continues to shrink and suffer from conflict. He emphasized the urgency of resolving the issue and said Muhammadiyah efforts support what the Indonesian government is already doing.
“Without Palestinian independence, the crisis of peace will go on. This will remain a shameful mark on human history,” said Imam.
Imam added that while international politics often involve hard power like weapons and military force, Indonesia’s role is different.
“What we send from Indonesia are peacekeepers, not armed forces. Our foreign policy is not based on that,” explained Imam.
Imam stressed that Muhammadiyah support is driven by humanitarian values. Through this approach, civil society organizations such as Muhammadiyah can play an important role in promoting peace and justice globally.
“Muhammadiyah is a strong and well-established organization that has made meaningful contributions around the world. We should continue to build partnerships and stay committed to peace efforts,” said Imam.
