Muhammadiyah Student Wins Two Gold Medals at World Police & Fire Games 2025

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, PALU – Johansen Vicendo Angtolis, a student of Universitas Muhammadiyah Palu (Unismuh Palu), earned international recognition after winning two gold medals in Taekwondo at the 2025 World Police & Fire Games (WPFG) held in Birmingham, Alabama, the United States on June 27-July 6, 2025.

Representing the Garuda Bhayangkara team, Johansen claimed gold in both the Poomsae Individual and Poomsae Pair categories on Tuesday, July 1. The global event brought together police and emergency service athletes around the world.

“This is a proud achievement, especially as it coincides with the 79th Bhayangkara Day. That makes this moment even more meaningful,” said Johansen.

In addition to being a fourth-semester law student at Unismuh Palu, Johansen also serves as a member of the Indonesian National Police with the rank of Bripda. He is currently posted at the State Police School (SPN) in Central Sulawesi.

His success was warmly welcomed by the Head of Public Relations for the Central Sulawesi Regional Police, Police Commissioner Djoko Wienartono, who described it as a special gift for both the police institution and the Indonesian people.

Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Law at Unismuh Palu Muhamad Rizki Syafaat also expressed his pride in Johansen’s accomplishment.

“We are very proud of him. This is a remarkable achievement not only for our university but also for Indonesia,” said Rizki.

Johansen’s journey in Taekwondo has been marked by determination and consistent performance. Prior to the 2025 WPFG, he joined the Garuda Bhayangkara national team and spent two months training in Semarang. The intensive training camp focused on improving technique, endurance, and competition strategy under the guidance of experienced coaches.

His previous achievements include winning two gold medals and one bronze at the 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championship.

Johansen’s success reflects his hard work and dedication, as well as the support he has received from his family, university, and the police institution.
