MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, MEDAN – The Karate Club of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara participated in the Selangor Shukaido Championship in Malaysia and won 2 gold, 1 silver, and 5 bronze medals.
The UMSU karatekas demonstrated their exceptional skills against over 1,000 competitors from 12 different countries.
UMSU Rector, Agussani, expressed his pride in the students’ achievements. He emphasized that the university is committed to supporting students in pursuing their passions, both academically and non academically.
“UMSU does not solely focus on academics; we are also dedicated to nurturing the talents and interests of our students. We offer scholarships and training funds to recognize and support students who excel in sports, arts, and culture,” said Agussani In a press release on Wednesday, December 11.
Among the gold medalists was Aji Nugraha Alamsyah Hsb, a Law student who triumphed in the senior -60 kg category and the team kumite event. Nasyiwa Maydina Pulungan, a student of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, claimed the silver medal in the women’s -55 kg kumite category. The remaining bronze medals were won by individual and team competitors.
“Congratulations to the UMSU Karate Club on their outstanding achievements. Keep making UMSU, North Sumatra, and Indonesia proud on the international stage,” said Agussani.
UMSU Vice Rector III, Rudianto, also commended the athletes for their hard work and dedication, noting that their success reflects positively on the university, the province, and the nation.
“This achievement is not only pride for UMSU but also for Indonesia and North Sumatra. It proves that hard work and dedication always pay off,” he said.
