MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, KUPANG — President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir affirmed the significance of the vision of equitable prosperity for all Indonesians.
“We wholeheartedly support President Prabowo Subianto’s vision of sovereignty and call for a just and prosperous society for all Indonesians,” stated Haedar in the opening ceremony of the Tanwir National Meeting and the 112th Anniversary Reception of Muhammadiyah at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara on Wednesday, December 4.
Raising the vision of “Bringing Prosperity for All” as the theme of the Tanwir National Meeting and the Anniversary commemoration, Muhammadiyah aspires to present prosperity for all elements of this nation.
Haedar explained that the concept of prosperity is rooted in four key dimensions: the national aspiration of a united, sovereign, just, and prosperous Indonesia; the Indonesian socio-historical concept of “gemah ripah loh jinawi,” which signifies a peaceful and prosperous nation; the Islamic concept of baldatun thayyibatun wa rabbun ghafur (a good land and a forgiving Lord) as mentioned in the Quran, surah Saba’ verse 15; and the fundamental principle of justice, as enshrined in the Indonesian Constitution.
“Soekarno once affirmed that Indonesia belongs to all, not to one person or a particular group. Bung Hatta also emphasized that Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution is the cornerstone of Indonesia’s socio-economic and political life,” said Haedar.
Haedar further explained that Hatta’s vision of the economy rejected individualism and capitalism, prioritizing social justice for all.
He also quoted President Prabowo’s book, Paradoks Indonesia dan Solusinya (Paradoxes of Indonesia and Its Solutions) in which the president emphasized the government’s role in driving economic growth, saving the nation, and reducing poverty.
Haedar noted that President Prabowo highlighted the significant amount of national wealth held overseas, which poses a major challenge to Indonesia’s economy.
To further demonstrate its commitment to improving the lives of Indonesians, Muhammadiyah has also initiated the construction of a new teaching hospital at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kupang. Haedar emphasized that this hospital will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of healthcare in the region.
“We ask President Prabowo to officially open this Tanwir National Meeting and Muhammadiyah anniversary commemoration ceremony,” Haedar said, expressing hope that Muhammadiyah will continue to make significant contributions to the development of Indonesia.
