MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, MAKASSAR – President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir highlighted the importance of maintaining the values of Ramadan as a foundation for personal growth and community transformation.
“Fasting teaches us to control our anger, share what we have, and care for others. These are the paths that lead us to true piety,” said Haedar during the post-Ramadan gathering hosted by the Muhammadiyah Provincial Board (PWM) of South Sulawesi on Sunday, April 6 at the Muhammadiyah Da’wa Center in Tamalanrea, Makassar.
Haedar praised the event not just for its spiritual meaning, but also for its forward-looking vision. He noted that this was the first post-Ramadan gathering he attended that also marked the beginning of a major development project—the construction of a 13-story Human Resources Development Center.
“This is truly remarkable and something to be proud of,” he said.
Haedar also commended the energy and commitment of Muhammadiyah members in South Sulawesi, along with the support of the local government. Haedar emphasized the importance of financial independence in sustaining Muhammadiyah work.
“The central board doesn’t provide subsidies except for remote areas. Regions like South Sulawesi grow because of their own strength,” he added.
He went on to highlight the region’s strong da’wa culture and the dedication of its members.
“That’s why Muhammadiyah institutions here continue to grow. The Islamic values are preserved with strength, including in areas like Mandar and Toraja,” he said.
PWM Sulsel Chairperson Ambo Asse shared his appreciation for the event’s success. For him, the post-Ramadan gathering is not just about gathering but also about strengthening Muhammadiyah mission to serve the people and the nation.
He also formally announced the launch of the 13-story Human Resources Development Center, a project expected to cost more than 70 billion rupiah and be completed within two years.
