MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – In response to the alarming rise in femicide, the Central Board of ‘Aisyiyah has called for a nonviolent society.
Tri Hastuti, Secretary-General of ‘Aisyiyah, stated that the issue of femicide has been widely discussed among ‘Aisyiyah members and is being disseminated through various activities, including religious studies and other programs, to the entire network of ‘Aisyiyah cadres.
“We continuously emphasize our core values, including nonviolence, which is a fundamental principle of ‘Aisyiyah,” said Tri Hastuti in a press conference on the 107th anniversary of Aisyiyah.
‘Aisyiyah aims to instill these nonviolent values in its cadres at all levels of leadership, from regional, provincial, and branch levels to sub-branches and ‘Aisyiyah communities.
The organization is collaborating with Muhammadiyah to promote nonviolent values. Tri explained that the issue of violence against women needs to be understood not only by women but also by men.
“The approach taken by ‘Aisyiyah is a family-based approach, where men play a crucial role in becoming champions against violence against women,” she said.
In addition to targeting adults, ‘Aisyiyah is also working with the Muhammadiyah Student Association (IPM) and the Muhammadiyah University Student Association (IMM) to promote nonviolent values among young people.
“It is from this young generation that we can truly prevent femicide,” said Tri Hastuti.
