MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Nahla Shabry As-Sha’idy, an advisor to the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Cairo, Egypt, emphasized that Muslim women have fundamental roles in shaping civilizations and advancing society.
Muslims women also have great responsibilities especially for upholding family values and contributing to various fields.
“The family is the foundation of a community. When a family upholds strong values, it positively influences society as a whole. Islam places great importance on family values, including fairness and proper upbringing, especially in teaching children good character and religious principles,” said Nahla in the Studium Generale conducted by Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr Hamka (Uhamka) on Friday, February 7.
Nahla also highlighted the significant role of Muslim women, particularly mothers, in educating future generations.
“A mother is responsible for shaping her children’s character by instilling discipline, good habits, and the ability to engage in respectful and meaningful discussions,” said Nahla.
Nahla further addressed modern challenges, such as the growing influence of social media and increasing economic demands, which add pressure to women’s roles today.
“One of the biggest issues is the negative impact of social media on young people, especially children. Muslim women, whether mothers or not, play a crucial role in guiding the younger generation to use it wisely,” said Nahla.
