MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs of Indonesia Meutya Hafid emphasized that Ramadan is not only a time for spiritual reflection but also an opportunity to strengthen family bonds amid the challenges of the digital era.
Speaking at the Ramadan preaching organized by ‘Aisyiyah on Saturday, March 15, Meutya highlighted how technology has become an inseparable part of daily life. While it offers many benefits, it also poses challenges, especially for parents raising children in an environment dominated by social media and unlimited access to information.
“Parents today face the difficult task of balancing the use of technology while ensuring their children grow up with strong moral values,” said Meutya.
The government, she explained, is actively working to create a safer digital environment for families. A key initiative is the National Digital Literacy Movement, which helps parents and children navigate the online world responsibly.
“This program goes beyond teaching people how to use technology. It focuses on using digital platforms wisely, ensuring safety, productivity, and positive engagement,” explained Meutya.
In addition, the government is strengthening regulations by blocking harmful content and collaborating with digital platforms to maintain a safe online space. Meutya stressed that tackling digital challenges requires collaboration between the government, communities, and organizations.
“The digital era is not something to fear but to manage wisely. By working together—government, society, and organizations like ‘Aisyiyah—we can ensure that technology strengthens, rather than weakens, family connections,” said Meutya.
