MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The General Secretary of Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu’ti emphasized the servant leadership qualities of Prophet Muhammad, as described in the Al-Barzanji. He highlighted that the Prophet never sought to be served, embodying humility and self-reliance.
“Prophet Muhammad was a modest and humble man who repaired his own sandals, sewed his own clothes, milked goats, and assisted with household chores,” said Mu’ti on Sunday, September 15.
Mu’ti further explained that the Prophet was an elite who was not elitist. According to Imam Al-Barzanji, the Prophet loved the poor and the needy, enjoyed their company, visited the sick, attended funerals, and never insulted anyone, regardless of their poverty.
Mu’ti encouraged Muslims, especially Muslim leaders, to emulate the Prophet’s servant leadership and to develop a leadership style that is close to and supportive of the marginalized and disadvantaged.
“May this commemoration of the Prophet’s birth inspire us all to emulate and transform our lives based on the Prophet’s example, particularly his simple, humble, and selfless nature, as well as his respect for others,” said Mu’ti.
