The Story of Prophet Ibrahim: A Reflection on Devotion and True Faith

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The story of Prophet Ibrahim’s faith in Allah remains a powerful message during Eid al-Adha. His willingness to sacrifice his son, as commanded by Allah, reflects deep devotion and complete trust, a central theme in this sacred celebration.

Secretary of Muhammadiyah, Muhammad Izzul Muslimin, stated that faith is not just declared, but it must be tested and proven.

“A test reveals the true quality of a person’s faith,  whether it’s only words or truly from the heart,” said Izzul in the preaching of the Eid al-Adha prayer at Rumah Sakit Islam Jakarta Pondok Kopi, East Jakarta, on Friday, June 6.

Izzul also emphasized that life’s tests don’t always come in the form of hardship. Comfort, success, and wealth can also be the tests that challenge people to remain grateful and humble.

“When we are tested with difficulty, can we stay patient? When we are tested with ease, will we still remember to be thankful to Allah?” asked Izzul rhetorically.

Izzul mentioned that people often forget to be grateful when enjoying life’s blessings even though everything they have can be taken away at any time.

“Abundant wealth, respected positions, good children, and knowledge are blessings that can also be part of tests. That’s why we need to always be mindful, stay connected to Allah, and be grateful. These gifts come from Allah, and He can take them back whenever He wills,” said Izzul

Speaking of the current global economic situation, Izzul said many are now being tested through financial uncertainty, a challenge that also affects Indonesia.

Thus, let’s strengthen our sense of togetherness through Islamic brotherhood, national unity, and shared humanity. By doing so, we can create a better life in this world and prepare ourselves for the life to come,” said Izzul.
