MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, PERLIS – Raja Muda (Crown Prince) of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail encouraged Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM) to play a key role in fostering research collaboration between universities in Indonesia and Malaysia. He emphasized that strengthening academic partnerships would benefit both countries and contribute to the advancement of Southeast Asia.
He also hoped that UMAM would build a strong global network of scholars and produce graduates who are not only experts in their fields but also uphold strong moral values. He stressed that education should not only focus on academic excellence but also nurture integrity and progressive Islamic values.
“UMAM should establish itself as a center for education and research excellence by collaborating closely with scholars from leading Islamic institutions. This will help strengthen the university’s intellectual and innovative capabilities,” said Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail in a Ramadan event at Hotel Seri Malaysia, Persiaran Wawasan, Kangar on Monday, March 17.
In the event aimed to provide aid to underprivileged children, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail was accompanied by the Young Lady of Perlis, Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil. They were warmly welcomed by UMAM Rector Saidul Amin, Chairperson of the UMAM Board of Directors Emeritus Datuk Mohd Noh Dalimin, and other university officials.
The event was also attended by several Muhammadiyah representatives from Jambi, Medan, and Riau, along with six university rectors from four provinces in Indonesia. Their presence highlighted the strong academic ties between Indonesia and Malaysia.
As part of the event, a symbolic donation was presented to 15 underprivileged children by Emeritus Datuk Mohd Noh Dalimin, reinforcing UMAM’s commitment to community service during Ramadan.
