MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Muhammadiyah welcomed a visit from representatives of the Crimean Tatars, Ukraine, on Tuesday morning (7/2) at the Muhammadiyah Office of Jakarta. The Chairman of Muhammadiyah Syafiq Mughni welcomed them.
Syafiq Mughni said that the delegates talked about the current condition of the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war.
“The meeting discussed peace resolution to provide Ukrainians human rights, freedom of religion, and social values,” mentioned Syafiq.
They believed that Muhammadiyah had been engaged in international conflict resolutions.
“They viewed that Muhammadiyah has a capacity to support, but it doesn’t mean that this movement will take one of two conflicted sides. Muhammadiyah will uphold normative values about freedom of religion, human rights, and peace,” said Syafiq.
Syafiq hoped the Russia-Ukraine war conflict could be over because many civil societies got war effects.
“May both countries agree, and the people can live in peace,” said Syafiq.
“Millions of refugees in Ukraine and abroad. Muhammadiyah will support the peace treaty and uphold human rights,” said Syafiq.
