MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Chairman of Muhammadiyah Syafiq Mughni believed that confronting issues of religious peace requires collaboration of all elements. All religious leaders should work together, have dialogs, and raise religious believers’ understanding that Indonesia is underlain diversity.
“Religious leaders play significant roles in shape people’s way of thinking and responses to diversity,” Syafiq Mughni said in the national dialog on interfaith at the Building of Sopo Marpingkir HKBP on Monday (26/9).
According to Syafiq Mughni, Muslims create peace through the concept of ‘lakum dinukum waliyadiin‘ (you have your way, and I have my way) as mentioned on surah al-Kafirun verse 6.
“It doesn’t mean that we try to blend religious teachings and do not attempt to unite all religions to be one religion because each religion has a different theological view. We expect to unite the difference through humanity. We all are human and believe in our own religion which teaches us to respect one another. We have to highly uphold human dignity. We have to love, help, and collaborate with one another. We have to benefit one another and arrange the notion of nationality,” Syafiq Mughni said.
Besides, Muhammadiyah grasps that Indonesia is the Pancasila state and darul ahdi wa syahadah that this nation is established because of consensus.
“When we agree on building this nation, no one breaks the consensus. Al mu’minuna ala syurutihim. The quality of Muslims is represented by how they keep their promise and do not break a joint agreement,” Syafiq said.
Meanwhile, darus syahadah means Indonesia as a place to embody the agreement.
“Religious people can create a better life, improve the nation dignity, and develop Indonesia,” Syafiq mentioned.
