MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, dr. Agus Taufiqurrahman, expressed his deep appreciation for the contributions and the long journey of the Emergency Medical Team of Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (EMT MDMC) in the field of disaster response and global humanitarian work.
In recognition of its impactful track record and years of preparation, EMT MDMC is undergoing an international verification process by the World Health Organization (WHO), marking the first time an EMT from Indonesia has been directly assessed by WHO.
“The Central Board of Muhammadiyah greatly appreciates all the preparations. We fully support this process and acknowledge that it has been a long journey. We noted that this process has spanned nine years, starting in 2016 after the establishment of EMT MDMC,” said Agus during the event held at K.H. Sudja’ Mosque Hall, PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping, on Saturday (18/10).
Agus explained that the establishment of EMT MDMC in 2016 was part of Muhammadiyah’s broader internationalization efforts, as mandated by the Muhammadiyah Muktamar National Congress in Surakarta.
In the past, Muhammadiyah’s internationalization agenda consisted of three main pillars: first, the internationalization of ideas and thoughts, carried out continuously to develop Muhammadiyah’s role in global humanitarian efforts; second, the internationalization of roles, which also pursued consistently; third, the internationalization of the movement itself, where Muhammadiyah actively engages in the international arena across various sectors,” he explained.
Agus expressed his hope that this long process would lead to sustainable and far-reaching contributions in the future. Reflecting the principle of “One Muhammadiyah, One Response,” he emphasized organization’s commitment to synergize across all sectors to advance and bring prosperity to the nation.
“What Muhammadiyah has done is a true contribution to the ummah, the nation, and the global community. This is an inseparable part of building the Indonesia we love. So let us maintain our spirit to build and do even better,” he concluded.
