MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – ‘Aisyiyah made a visit to the Indonesian National Police on Friday, January 2010. The meeting discussed current issues of injustice faced by women and children, particularly in legal protections and law enforcement.
President of ‘Aisyiyah Salmah Orbayinah mentioned plans for a formal partnership with the police through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement, to be signed during the opening of Tanwir National Meeting I ‘Aisyiyah on Wednesday, January 15, will focus on preventing violence, improving legal processes, and confronting issues affecting women and children.
Salmah Orbayinah expressed her appreciation for the police’s role in maintaining public order and highlighted the importance of collaboration in addressing societal challenges. She stressed that ‘Aisyiyah is committed to working alongside the police in raising legal awareness and promoting community welfare.
“We believe that by working together, ‘Aisyiyah and the police can create meaningful change and help build a fair and civilized society. As an organization focused on empowering women and education, we are ready to support police initiatives that focus on education and prevention,” Salmah said.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo General Listyo Sigit Prabowo welcomed the partnership, acknowledging ‘Aisyiyah’s important role in fostering social harmony. He affirmed the police’s commitment to collaborating with all elements, including ‘Aisyiyah, to tackle critical issues such as violence against women and children.
