MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, SURAKARTA – One of the topics discussed in the 48th ‘Aisyiyah Congress (Muktamar ‘Aisyiyah), is the Treatise of Progressive Women (RPB).
According to the President of ‘Aisyiyah, Siti Noordjannah Djohantini, the Treatise of Progressive Women is a document of ‘Aisyiyah’s ideological view on women in various life aspects.
This thought is a reorientation of ‘Aisyiyah’s notions and pioneering efforts to promote women inclusively regardless of their ethnic, racial, or religious background and to create a better life of women.
The Treatise of Progressive Women may enrich Muhammadiyah documents about ideological views on women.
Indeed, Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah have several documents of ideological views on women that show a progressive view of women.
For example, the document Guidance for Reaching a Meaningful Islamic Wife, written in 1939, included the permissibility of women to travel without a mahrom (a family member who is haram or forbidden to marry) as long as their security was granted.
However, along with the dynamics of the times, a document with a contextual ideological view is vital.
Thank you very much for sharing, I learned a lot from your article. Very cool. Thanks. nimabi
