MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, PUTRAJAYA – Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim welcomed President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir on Monday, March 3, at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya.
The meeting aimed to strengthen relations between Malaysia and Indonesia while discussing key issues affecting Muslims.
In a post on his official Instagram account, @Anwaribrahim_MY, Anwar Ibrahim expressed his appreciation for the visit.
“Today, I had the honor of welcoming Muhammadiyah leadership, an esteemed Islamic organization from Indonesia, led by Prof. Dr. Haedar Nashir,” he wrote.
During the discussion, Anwar fondly recalled his past interactions with Muhammadiyah figures, including Buya Hamka.
Anwar also brought up the concept of “Madani,” which he first introduced at the Istiqlal Festival in Jakarta.
“We discussed the idea of Madani, which I introduced at the Istiqlal Festival in Jakarta, as an alternative to the term ‘civil society,’ aiming for a concept with deeper values and a distinct identity,” said Anwar.
Beyond personal reflections, the meeting addressed major challenges facing Muslims.
“We exchanged views on key issues, particularly in education, Islamic civilization, and current geopolitical developments that impact this region,” stated Anwar.
The discussion highlighted shared concerns about global challenges affecting Southeast Asia.
Anwar emphasized the importance of such meetings in strengthening bilateral relations.
“These discussions are crucial for reinforcing ties between Malaysia and Indonesia and building mutual trust and collaboration,” added Anwar.
Anwar expressed optimism about the potential for greater cooperation between the two nations.
“Insya Allah, with strong commitment and hard work, Malaysia and Indonesia can move forward together to achieve common goals,” expressed Anwar.
This visit reaffirmed both parties’ commitment to enhancing collaboration in education, Islamic civilization, and addressing geopolitical challenges. It marked an important step toward deeper cooperation and stronger bonds between the two neighboring countries.
