Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Contributes Key Insights at ASEAN Islamic Conference

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, BANGKOK – Islamic leaders and scholars from Southeast Asia gathered in Bangkok for the ASEAN Islamic Conference, a platform to share experiences and strategies for advancing Islamic da’wa efforts in the region.

The conference brought together muftis, scholars, and academics from ASEAN countries to exchange ideas and strengthen regional solidarity.

Representatives of each country presented updates on their da’wa activities and responded to the da’wa development in other countries.

“The main goal of this conference is to accelerate Islamic da’wa by adopting the methods of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and delivering teachings based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah,” said Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Syafiq A. Mughni, representing Muhammadiyah and Indonesia in the conference.

This was the third ASEAN Islamic Conference, following the first meeting in Bali two years ago. Muhammadiyah has been actively involved since the beginning. The next conference, scheduled for the near future, will be sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, further supporting da’wa efforts in Southeast Asia.

The conference also saw the participation of the Minister of Islamic Affairs and Da’wah, who attended the event from start to finish. The presence of key figures demonstrated the strategic importance of the gathering in fostering collaboration, strengthening relations among ASEAN nations, and shaping practical strategies for Islamic da’wa.

Syafiq hoped that the conference would inspire stronger da’wah initiatives and deeper cooperation among Southeast Asian nations.

“This forum is a crucial step in building synergy and expanding da’wah efforts to benefit the Muslim community across Southeast Asia,” said Syafiq on Sunday, January 26.
