MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto enacted a reshuffle of Kabinet Merah Putih (the Red and White Cabinet) on Monday, September 8. The inauguration ceremony took place at the State Palace in Jakarta.
The President of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, Haedar Nashir, emphasized that newly appointed ministers and deputy ministers—regardless of position—bear heavy responsibilities as they step into office amid heightened public scrutiny and soaring expectations, especially in the wake of the late-August 2025 demonstrations and unrest.
Haedar emphasized that a public official’s professional competence and moral integrity are subject to constant public scrutiny. He noted that even minor mispronunciations, gestures, and everyday behavior can be judged with heightened sensitivity, reflecting the public’s growing expectations for ethical leadership.
“This new position is not a source of pride, but a solemn responsibility aligned with the President’s Asta Cita mandate and the Constitution,” Haedar stated on Monday, September 8.
Haedar continued by stressing that the President’s assistants are not only expected to carry out their duties effectively and meet the public’s high expectations, but must also embody wisdom and diligence in their roles as public officials
“Avoid reckless behavior, especially actions that may hurt others, cultivate empathy and concern for the conditions and fate of those living in hardship,” said Haedar.
To sum up, Haedar advised individuals to become public officials who serve the nation and the state with wholehearted dedication and integrity.
“Set aside personal interests and anything that could oppose the President’s mandate to fully serve the people,” Haedar concluded.
