MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA — The Muhammadiyah-‘Aisyiyah Higher Education (PTMA) Forum conducted a simultaneous action across Indonesia in support of Palestine and condemnation of Israel on Tuesday (May 7). The action resulted in a 10-point statement of position as follows:
- Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (PTMA) throughout Indonesia, which are members of the PTMA Rector Forum, strongly condemn Israel for its aggression and military attacks that are highly disproportionate, mass arrests of Palestinian civilians, destruction of various public facilities, especially health facilities, and the blockade of humanitarian aid.
- The Forum greatly appreciates the support of students, lecturers, and professors around the world who have dared to voice their conscience and common sense to reject Israel’s genocidal crimes and support Palestinian independence.
- The Forum strongly condemns the stance of the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and other countries and parties that continue to provide support and assistance to Israel in its aggression and attacks on Palestine.
- The Forum calls on the United Nations to force and facilitate negotiations and a ceasefire between Israel and Palestine.
- The Forum supports the International Criminal Court (ICC) in prosecuting Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli figures involved in the genocide of the Palestinian people.
- The Forum condemns the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Rabithah Alam Islami, and Arab countries for their weak stance and tendency to allow Israel to freely carry out attacks and killings for their own interests.
- The Forum appreciates the consistency and courage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in various world forums to continue to defend and fight for Palestinian independence, reject Israeli crimes, and strongly criticize Western hypocrisy in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
- The Forum calls on the Indonesian government not to even think about, let alone take political steps to open diplomatic relations with the aggressor and genocidal state of Israel.
- In the name of human rights and the mandate of the Indonesian Constitution, all colonialism must be abolished in this world as it is not in conformity with humanity and justice, and Indonesia and Palestine have had historical relations through Prof. Kahar Muzakir (a Muhammadiyah figure).
- The Forum invites all elements of Indonesian society to continue to pay serious attention to the developments of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by continuing to provide moral, financial, and spiritual assistance to the struggle of the Palestinian people.
With these 10 statements of position, the action aims to end the protracted and brutal humanitarian conflict waged by Israel against Palestine.
