MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, EGYPT – The Muhammadiyah Department for Charity Management (Lazismu), in collaboration with the Association of Zakat Management Organizations (POROZ), visited the Indonesian Embassy in Egypt on Wednesday, February 26, to discuss efforts to support Palestinians affected by ongoing conflict.
The delegation was welcomed by Deputy Chief of Mission M. Zaim A. Nasution and other embassy officials. Gunawan Hidayat, Secretary of Lazismu explained that the visit aimed to enhance the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestine through Egypt.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that aid reaches Gaza and other affected areas safely and efficiently.
“We continue working to send humanitarian aid through every possible channel, including collaborating with the Indonesian Embassy in Egypt and other partners, to ensure assistance reaches Palestinians in need,” said Gunawan.
The discussion also covered fundraising efforts and the provision of essential supplies, including medical aid, food, and emergency relief. Muhammadiyah reaffirmed its dedication to mobilizing support from the Indonesian Muslims and beyond.
“This meeting is an important step in strengthening cooperation between Lazismu and the Indonesian Embassy in Egypt in global humanitarian efforts while reinforcing Indonesia’s support for the Palestinian cause,” said Gunawan.
Meanwhile, M. Zaim Nasution emphasized the embassy’s role in facilitating aid, particularly by opening humanitarian access at the Rafah border.
“The Indonesian Embassy in Egypt remains committed to supporting these efforts and will continue working with humanitarian organizations like POROZ to ensure aid reaches Gaza,” he stated.
