Muhammadiyah Australia College Recognized as Model of Global Islamic Education

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The Central Board of Muhammadiyah welcomed staff of Muhammadiyah Australia College (MAC) at its headquarters in Yogyakarta on Friday, July 11. The visit marked an important step in strengthening Muhammadiyah’s global roles, particularly through education.

President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir expressed his appreciation for MAC and its contribution as a Muhammadiyah school in Australia. He described MAC as a clear example of how Muhammadiyah can make a positive impact internationally, especially in a developed country.

“MAC is a real example of Muhammadiyah mission of tajdid and outreach beyond Indonesia. The school becomes a role model and a significant milestone for both Muhammadiyah and the wider global community,” said Haedar.

Haedar emphasized that education plays a vital role in building civilization, and outlined four key values that should guide it, namely Islamic principles, strong moral character, unity among people, and Islamic Progressive orientation.

“We put a strong focus on akhlak (morals) and aim to be a school of ihsan (excellence in character). Amid d, MAC remains grounded in an inclusive spirit and Islamic values,” said Roszana.

She added that collaboration, dedication, and a growth mindset are key to sustaining Islamic education in multicultural settings.
