Muhammadiyah Commitment to Addressing Health Issues

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The Ministry of Health supports the establishment of medical faculties in Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah universities.

The Ministry’s support is rooted in the shared understanding of Indonesia’s pressing need for more healthcare professionals.

“The imbalance between the population and the number of doctors and specialists is a significant concern, and Muhammadiyah is proud to contribute to addressing this issue,” said President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir in the 33rd anniversary commemoration of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (Unisa) Yogyakarta, on Wednesday, September 9.

Haedar expressed gratitude for the support and trust of the Ministry of Health to Muhammadiyah, hoping that this partnership will continue to strengthen.

Beyond the immediate goal of increasing the number of healthcare professionals, Haedar also emphasized the broader ethos that drives Muhammadiyah growth.

“The continuous growth is due to the ethos of progress that is deeply ingrained in Muhammadiyah. This ethos is not only present in our systems but also in the individuals within the organization,” said Haedar.

This ethos, he explained, is grounded in Islamic teachings and has been uniquely interpreted by Ahmad Dahlan. This interpretation has led to the establishment of educational, healthcare, and social institutions.

The motto “talk less, do more”, taught by Dahlan, has become a defining characteristic of Muhammadiyah members.
