MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, CIANJUR – General Treasurer of Muhammadiyah Hilman Latief urges the movement’s members not to merely celebrate past educational achievements but to actively shape its future.
“Muhammadiyah has long been a trailblazer in education. Yet, we cannot afford to rest on our laurels. The future demands constant innovation and improvement,” said Hilman at Muhammadiyah’s 111th anniversary celebration ceremony conducted by the Muhammadiyah Local Board of Cianjur on December 10.
Drawing inspiration from Surat Ali Imran, verse 140, which emphasizes the impermanence of things, Latief warned against complacency. He called on members to embrace change, learn from the past, and actively build upon the organization’s legacy.
One key initiative to secure this future is the Gerakan Infak Pendidikan 111 (Muhammadiyah Education Philanthropy Initiative 111, henceforth GIP 111). It aims to establish endowment funds for education.
“The establishment of this fund is of paramount importance as it will serve as a crucial support system. It will help to safeguard our educational institutions against any unforeseen challenges that may arise due to the ever-changing political and economic scenario,” said Hilman.
GIP 111, launched in November 2023, has already secured IDR 82 billion of targeted IDR 111 billion. Latief, however, called for continued support, urging members to contribute and ensure the fund reaches its target of IDR 2 trillion by 2027.
“Together, we can achieve an exceptional goal. With the resolute support of our members, we have the power to ensure the future of Muhammadiyah’s education. Let’s take action and make a difference today,” said Hilman.
