MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Muhammadiyah Central Board welcomed a delegation from the Chinese Consulate General Ye Su in Surabaya on Friday to explore opportunities for strategic cooperation across multiple sectors, including education, research, health care, technology, and economy.
Muhammad Sayuti, Secretary of Muhammadiyah Central Board, expressed appreciation for the visit led by Ye Su, China’s Consul General in Surabaya. He said the discussion aligned closely with Muhammadiyah’s long-standing agenda to internationalize its social and humanitarian movement.
“We are pleased to welcome the Chinese Consulate general,” Sayuti said. “Muhammadiyah has, in principle, built cooperation with many countries, and this meeting is part of our effort to expand our global engagement.”
Moreover, he emphasized China’s increasingly strategic role on the world stage. As a result, Muhammadiyah sees significant potential for mutually beneficial collaboration.
“We hope to broaden cooperation through various schemes, including business-to-business, university-to-university, and hospital-to-hospital partnerships,” Sayuti added. “China’s advances in many sectors present valuable opportunities. We are eager to explore new forms of cooperation.”
In response, Ye Su highlighted the close and growing relationship between China and Indonesia. He also acknowledged Muhammadiyah’s substantial contribution to Indonesia.
“Our relationship with Indonesia is very strong.” Ye Su said. “We have also met with Muhammadiyah Provincial Board Leaders in Jast Java to better understand the organization’s role and its potential for cooperation.”
Furthermore, he noted that the Chinese government has recently outlined a new five year development plan. That framework, he said, opens space for collaboration with international partners, including Muhammadiyah.
“We hope to maintain good communication and develop concrete cooperative projects, particularly with Muhammadiyah,” Ye Su said.
