MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, EGYPT — Muhammadiyah provided assistance to 15 Palestinian patients at the Palestinian Hospital Heliopolis in Cairo, Egypt. The aid was distributed on Thursday (April 18) through the Lazismu Office of the Muhammadiyah Special Branch (PCIM) of Egypt.
Muhammad Khairul Hakim, head of KL Lazismu PCIM Egypt, delivered the aid in person, accompanied by Fahd Abdul Malik (Finance Staff) and M. Agim Syamsul Ma’arif (Public Relations Staff). Representatives from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society were also present, including Secretary General Mr. Tarek Arafat, Palestinian Hospital Management Committee member Wael Abu Haiba, Security Director Hussain, dr. Wafa and dr. Amal as the patients’ primary doctors.
A recent visit by the KL Lazismu PCIM Egypt to the Palestinian Hospital served two purposes. Fahd Abdul Malik, Finance Staff, explained that it aimed to not only deliver aid to Palestinian patients but also to strengthen the bond of brotherhood between Indonesians, particularly Muhammadiyah, and Palestinians. This visit was warmly received by patients undergoing specialized treatment.
“This visit serves as a bridge to solidify our bond of brotherhood with our Palestinian brothers and sisters. May the aid be valuable for the beneficiaries,” said Fahd.
The visit was prompted by the growing number of patients from war-torn Gaza seeking treatment at the Palestinian Hospital in Egypt. Their dire economic situation, due to the ongoing conflict, creates a significant financial burden. To address this, Lazismu of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, through the Lazismu of PCIM Egypt, stepped in to cover the medical expenses of 15 patients for a month, totaling 117,000 EGP (around 40 million rupiah).
Mr. Tarek Arafat, Secretary General of The Palestine Red Crescent Society, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for Muhammadiyah’s ongoing support. He spoke of the strong bond between the organizations, saying, “Muhammadiyah is like our own family. Thank you, and may this collaboration continue smoothly.”
Hadiel Safar Medhat, a beneficiary, was deeply moved by the aid. “We are incredibly happy to meet the Muhammadiyah representatives in person. Thank you for your help and prayers,” he said.
The representatives of the Lazismu of PCIM Egypt ensured transparency in the aid distribution. They directly met with the Palestinian Hospital’s Management Committee, represented by Wael Abu Haiba, to make cash payments through the hospital cashier. Following a photo session with hospital representatives, they also requested permission to visit patients undergoing treatment.
The provided medical assistance wasn’t limited to Lazismu’s funds. The Lazismu of PCIM Egypt also distributed additional aid from donors like the Majelis Taklim Ex-Khobar and the Quran School ICC Dhahran Saudi Arabia. This combined effort ensured sufficient medical assistance for patients for two months.
