MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – President of Muhammadiyah Central Board, Haedar Nashir, emphasized that the Special Branch Board of Muhammadiyah Abroad (PCIM) play a vital role as a communication bridge between Muhammadiyah in Indonesia and its networks overseas, both in advancing the organization’s da’wah mission and in promoting broader social engagement.
Haedar delivered this message during the opening of the 4th Deliberation of PCIM Saudi Arabia on Friday (31/10).
“Saudi Arabia has a special role during umrah and hajj. Many of our members there have been actively assisting pilgrims and various groups. This insyaallah has become an invaluable contribution felt by Indonesian Muslims,” he said.
Haedar reaffirmed that Muhammadiyah remains steadfast in carrying out its mission of da’wah (propagation) and tajdid (reform), from nurturing individual and family faith to building community life and fostering humanitarian relationships at the global level, in line with its vision of rahmatan lil ‘alamin (a mercy to all creation).
In anticipation of Muhammadiyah’s 113th anniversary on November 18, Haedar reminded PCIM cadres in Saudi Arabia to commemorate the milestone as an opportunity for self-reflection rather than mere ceremony.
“Muhammadiyah cadres must not focus solely on ceremonial activities. They should take time for muhasabah, to look inward and reflect on what weaknesses and shortcomings still exist,” he said.
“He stressed that no organization can grow strong without self-evaluation and honest introspection. After reflection, members are called to project forward, to plan, and to act strategically for Muhammadiyah’s continued progress.
“Being progressive means improving both in quality and quantity, so that Muhammadiyah can bring greater benefit to the leadership of the ummah, the nation, and humanity at the global level,” Haedar added.
In closing, he expressed hope that PCIMs would serve as platforms for intellectual enrichment and for embodying Islam as a living civilization.
“May PCIM be a washilah (a means) to deepen knowledge and realize Islam as a radiant civilization, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarrah, so that Islam truly becomes mercy for all creation,” he concluded. (Bintang Adrian)
