MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA — The Moesa Choir of SD Muhammadiyah Sapen won a Gold Medal in the Children’s Choir category at the Bali International Choir Festival (BICF) 2025. The event was held from July 29 to August 2 at Dharma Negara Alaya Denpasar and the Buaya Giri Nata Mandala Hall in Badung, Bali.s
The BICF is one of the largest choir festivals in Asia, featuring over 3,500 singers from 40 countries. Moesa Choir’s victory is a proud achievement, showing that the school’s dedication to arts and culture education can compete at a global level.
Led by head coach Henri Istiawan, coordinator Wawan Efendi, and supervisor Agung Rahmanto, Moesa Choir delivered an outstanding performance with two children’s songs, “Taman Bunga” and “Memandang Alam.” Their creative and energetic presentation not only portrayed their technical skills but also touched the hearts of the judges and audience.
“We are very proud of these students who trained with such discipline and spirit. This gold medal is the result of hard work, collaboration between teachers, coaches, students, and the full support from parents and the school,” said Agung Rahmanto in a press release on Monday, August 4.
Henri Istiawan added that winning is not the only goal. “Through art, children learn to cooperate, gain confidence to perform, and appreciate cultural diversity. These are invaluable life lessons,” he said.
Meanwhile, the principal of SD Muhammadiyah Sapen also expressed his appreciation for the Moesa Choir team.
“This achievement is a special gift as the school celebrates its 58th anniversary. I hope this success inspires other students to achieve and dare to perform on the international level,” he stated.
SD Muhammadiyah Sapen’s participation at the BICF reflects its commitment to support students’ talents in various fields, especially arts and culture.
